Marstons withdraw their interest in West Byfleet Recreation Ground

We are sure many of you have heard that Marston’s have said they will not go ahead with the purposed pub on the Recreation Ground but until the WBNF had official confirmation of this fact we have been reluctant to inform you.

We have now received  a short letter address to Wade Pollard [ chairman of the WBNF] stating the following

” I can confirm that Marston’s have withdrawn their interest”
signed Edward Hancock Director of Venture Pubs & Estates

We would like to thank everyone who have put so much time and energy into helping secure this outcome, the Stoop family, who have been kept in touch with proceeding, also send their thanks.

To give the Recreation Ground added protection we have requested WBC to make the area a ‘Community Asset’. WBC should inform us if they agree to this request with in the next few weeks. This adds further protection to our Neighbourhood  Plan policy OS1  where the Recreation Ground is designated a ‘Local Green Space’.

We will in due course inform you of the date of the official opening of the new play area,  which is now been very much enjoyed by our children.
